What’s Your Theme Song?

I’ve been blogging on serious topics so I thought I’d interject something a little lighter. It still has substance, so make sure you give it some thought and tell me what you came up with.

Have you ever thought about your life having a theme song? What about a soundtrack?

I have and I realized there were seasons of my life where songs summed up what God was doing in my life, even if it wasn’t a Godly song.

Here is what I came up with:

My Redeemer Lives: Nicole C. Mullen—This song was my lifeline after a miscarriage. Nothing made sense and the anger I chose to carry ate away at me. In the small glimpses of rational thought I had, the words to this song got me through. I still go back to that time the second I hear the song start.

The Anchor Holds: Ray Boltz—This was a song I knew from my early years knowing Christ as a friend and yet so much of my life didn’t make sense.  I realize now having polycystic ovaries and hormonal imbalance didn’t help matters at all but they were dark, tough, HARD days. This song was my theme during that season.

I’m Still Standing: Elton John—Yes, God showed me this song as a declaration once I came out of a desert experience. What was meant to break me refined me. I came out stronger because of it. I have joy because of the Lord. This song was my declaration to the devil.

I Won’t Back Down—Sam Elliott. The version that speaks the most to me is from the animated movie Barnyard. Tom Petty sings another version but it’s Sam Elliott that makes this work for me. I wear a lot of hats but the one that gets worn and torn the most is the prayer warrior hat. I don’t talk about it here much but it’s a big part of my life. It’s not easy and the hits, they keep coming. Yet the words nail God’s plan for my life.

How about you? Don’t think your song has to be a hymn (it can be), it might surprise you what you find as a theme song. Share your discovery here!
