Word Full Wednesday: Mere Man, Medical Bills, and Me

I missed a week or two but it’s Word-Full Wednesday. This is a day to post an image and something from God’s Word to give glory to Him.

There is one trigger I have that takes me from total faith in the Lord to fleshly fear in .02 seconds. After experiencing insurance issues stemming from our daughter’s chronic illness at the time when she was healed something remained: an intense fear and distrust with medical bills.

God provided in a huge, huge way to the tune of thousands of dollars. You’d think I’d be a total woman of confidence.

Yet when an unexpected medical bill comes or something that costs more than I thought, I forget God is God.

It happened yesterday. My morning started with a phone call from the billing department where I had a recent surgery.  My Flex card didn’t go through and it was denied. Without praying, without thinking, I went to panic mode. I distrusted the insurance company and Flex card people. They mocked me once again.

So I thought.

Mere man called me back not once but four times. Turns out the card was declined because I switched two numbers and they figured it out. Three more calls let me know that as soon as they paid my bills the insurance company showed that they did pay for many services they said they would not. In fact the fourth call let me know to expect…a $1500 credit.

I often feel like that astronaut, floating around in fear. Even as I write this there is a squeak in our brakes and my questions to God sound like a whiny brake.

But I praise my Jehovah Jireh, my Provider.

And I’m working on not being intimidated by mere man or the mailman bringing medical bills anymore.

In Jesus’ name.
