From Julie:
I’m convinced Susan May Warren could write on toilet paper and I’d relish it. With all due respect to Karen Kingsbury I think Susan is a powerhouse author who has the ability to write romance with contemporary, western, humorous and suspenseful themes yet I don’t think she receives the acknowledgement due her. I know that isn’t why she writes but she’s so good at what she does I feel she’s taken for granted. There, I said it.
My Foolish Heart is the latest in Susan’s Deep Haven series and I was immediately captured by it. I love a sweet romance and there is nothing better than the literal girl next door prospect. But My Foolish Heart is so much more than a neighborhood romance.  Isadora Presley has a secret life as a stay at home syndicated talk show host where she serves romantic advice. The problem is, she’s never had a date and she suffers from severe panic attacks that keep her homebound.
Caleb Knight is her new neighbor in position to be the new football coach but a few things stand in his way. For one, he has to compete for the job against a local beloved candidate. Second, the former coach has a tremendous legacy Caleb isn’t sure he can compete against. Third, he has a secret that could not only prevent him from the job of his dreams but ruin his chances to make Deep Haven home.
More than Isadora and Caleb’s struggles I appreciated how Susan can make secondary characters just as strong as the hero and heroine. I enjoyed Lucy and Seb’s story as it wove throughout Isadora and Caleb’s lives but also was a solid story on its own. That’s not easy to pull off and again, Susan May Warren makes it look easy.
You don’t need to read the previous Deep Haven books to understand My Foolish Heart but I recommend you read all her books just because I think they are all so well done. Find a lounge chair, pour a glass of sweet tea and get yourself My Foolish Heart on the top of your summer read list. You’ll be touched, refreshed and wanting to call your real estate agent to find a place in Deep Haven.
I received this book from Litfuse Publicity and Tyndale Fiction in exchange for an honest review.
