Character Confession: The Very Beautiful Servant
VBS, also known as Vacation Bible School, is a week adventure for kids to get messy, silly, play games, eat snacks, create crafts, sing songs, make friends, and most of all, learn about Jesus. I get upset when someone knocks VBS because I’ve seen the impact. I’ve heard speakers, missionaries, and pastors speak about how they first heard about Jesus at VBS. Their experience changed them, especially when so little at the time gave them hope.
As a worker, it’s exhausting, but so much fun. This year has been exceptional.
I wrote this piece about VBS a few years back, and this is how I picture the eternal impact of this ministry.

JULIE! I’m all teary. I loved VBS as a kid (known back then as Bible School) and I think I love it more as a Very Beautiful Servant. Thank you for telling people what they’re missing if they’re NOT helping with VBS.
