Blog Talk Radio Interview: Step Into the Light

Posted by Julie on February 26, 2017 in About Me, ACFW, encouragement, God's Word, Julie Arduini, Life Lessons, Writing |

Sorry it’s been quiet here, there’s quite a bit going on behind the scenes, and I’ll share more in the coming days. It’s a busy time, but an exciting one!

A big part of being an author is also being in marketing. That’s not natural for most authors, we just want to write, and that’s true for me. Thankfully, I went to college for public relations/communications, so I have a handle on marketing challenges. Like everyone else, I don’t love it, but it’s part of the call.

Some people make talking about our books very easy. Patti Shene is one of those people, so it’s no wonder she hosts a show on Blog Talk Radio called Step Into the Light.

Patti interviewed me on Valentine’s Day and it was a fun time. We talked surrender, chocolate, Valentine’s Day and about my writing.

It’s about 45 minutes long and if you wondered what Upstate NY sounds like, give my interview a listen!

Valentine’s Day: Surrender, Chocolate and Interview on Blog Talk Radio

Posted by Julie on February 13, 2017 in About Me, ACFW, encouragement, God's Word, Julie Arduini, Life Lessons, surrender, Writing |

Have you ever connected with someone through e mail and it was just a click? You felt like you knew the person and wanted to have coffee with them? That has been my feeling towards author and blog talk radio host Patti Shene. Through ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers,) we somehow crossed paths online and touched base because of the Adirondack Mountains.

You probably know my Surrendering Time series, ENTRUSTED, ENTANGLED, and ENGAGED are all based in the Upstate NY region that features 1 million acres. Patti has history there as well, so I always enjoy when I hear from her.

Tomorrow Patti and I are going to have a chat, and YOU are invited! Patti hosts STEP INTO THE LIGHT, a program on Blog Talk Radio. My interview will be live at 10am Eastern. We plan to talk about surrender issues, chocolate, and Valentine’s Day. I’m sure we’ll talk about writing, too.

If you would like to learn more about any of these things, or, if you’re just curious to hear what an Upstate NY accent sounds like, come check it out!

Listeners can access show via telephone or over the internet

I’m thankful for people like Patti that have a passion to share her time to encourage others. She has a great roster of speakers who have given their personal stories to share in hopes of helping listeners. I hope you check it out!

Celebrate Summer with a FREE and .99 Read!

Posted by Julie on June 19, 2016 in About Me, Julie Arduini |

Oneday_editedNOTE: If you receive this blog via email, the sale might already have started.

Although Ohio has seen 90+ temps already (and snow in May,) it is now summer. One of my favorite things to do is watch our daughter swim and have a book on the deck.

And now, I want to put a couple books in YOUR hands.

If you enjoy the feel of a “real” book, I priced ENTRUSTED and ENTANGLED so you could buy both and spend less than $20. Typically, you would see a full length novel sell for $15 each. I believe that much in these stories getting to people and changing lives.

If you have a Kindle, or a tablet, laptop, desktop or phone that you use for reading, I am having a sale on the ebook versions of ENTRUSTED and ENTANGLED Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21. Remember, if you don’t have a Kindle, download the FREE Kindle app to your device and start reading!

ENTRUSTED will be FREE. Yep, no cost at all.

ENTANGLED will be .99. You can purchase both books in the Surrendering Time Series (book 3, ENGAGED, due later this year) for .99 ebooks. That’s how to say hello to summer!

About ENTRUSTED:

ENTRUSTED will be FREE (ebook/Kindle version) Monday, June 20 and Tuesday, June 21.

“You need to go home, city-girl. You don’t belong.”

Jenna Anderson, sassy city-girl from Youngstown, Ohio, plows–literally–into Adirondack village, Speculator Falls, with a busted GPS and a determination to fit in as the newest resident. She wants to live a life without regret and make a difference. Moving to become the senior center director is the biggest risk she’s ever taken, and she believes her ideas are worth investing in. The senior citizens have been hurt by the last director, so Jenna has to work hard to earn their trust. When they embrace her, she thinks it’s time to show the seniors she intends to stay and make the center beautiful for them.

Town councilman and grocer Ben Regan is as broken as the flower box Jenna demolished. He’s grieving from the double loss of his grandfather’s passing and his former girlfriend leaving town without saying goodbye. His grief is so strong he wants to shut down the senior center before there’s too much change and heartbreak. Re opening the senior center and hiring a new director was never his plan. Jenna isn’t a Speculator Falls local and she has too many plans that will cost money the village doesn’t have. She’s too excited about his dream to expand the store his grandfather built. The harder he tries to keep Jenna at a distance, the more they are thrown together to work on community projects. They build a slow relationship, but the council needs to vote on the senior center’s future. Can Jenna show Ben both her and the center are worth trusting?

About ENTANGLED:

ENTANGLED will be .99 ebook Monday and Tuesday.

“You need to leave me alone. It’s the least you can do.”

Carla Rowling has been given her dream of attending cosmetology school. The gift is so generous she feels unworthy because of choices she made as a teen. The pressure mounts as Carla juggles school, is a single mom, helps her best friend Jenna plan her wedding, spends time with boyfriend Will Marshall, and deals with the fact that her son’s father is back in their lives.

Will Marshall is the one Speculator Falls resident everyone can count on. His truck deliveries are reliable. He’s the first to help friends like Ben Regan with boat work or be a card partner with Bart Davis. Will’s ready to settle down with Carla, loving her is natural. He’s bonded with her son, Noah. But when Carla starts cosmetology school, she puts emotional distance between her and Will.

Can Carla release her past and create a future full of highlights, or, will she burn her options worse than a bad perm?

Introducing Surrendered Scribe Media

Posted by Julie on April 15, 2016 in About Me, encouragement, God's Word, Julie Arduini, Life Lessons, Speaking, surrender, Writing |
SSM

Surrendered Scribe Media is the new journey God has placed me on.

What a year this has been already! I now see why my words for the year are fierce and perspective. It takes fierce determination to surrender my plans for God’s and move forward with them.

Through other transitions (namely my husband announcing his job change that allows him to work from home, something that has evolved from twice a week to every day,) I’ve pushed through fear, doubts and constant hisses from the true defeated one that I’ll never succeed. That I heard God wrong.

Yet, here I am. The state of Ohio now recognizes what I do as Surrendered Scribe Media. Any books I release will be under this name. The speaking I plan to market in the near future will fall under the SSM umbrella.

I went with the cupcake with a bite taken out because many relate to my tagline.

Encouraging you to surrender the good, the bad, and—maybe one day—the chocolate.

I’ll be cheering audiences on as they let go of good things—my writing journey was good but this year God asked me to change it, surrender what I was doing and change course. He’ll ask similar things of you. There’s the bad stuff to surrender—worry, gossip, toxic people/choices. But there’s also those things where you know down the road God will ask you to surrender something, but not today. And if you’re like me and chocolate, you’re happy about that.

Tomorrow I will share the cover for ENTRUSTED: SURRENDERING THE PRESENT, the re release of my first book in the re branded Surrendering Time series, followed by the NEW release, ENTANGLED: SURRENDERING THE PAST. The last book in the series is ENGAGED: SURRENDERING THE FUTURE. I will be including that cover in my bookmarks and business cards, so let me know if you’d like one so you can be one of the first in the know.

It’s a scary time, but it’s an exciting one. There’s nothing that feels better than knowing you are doing what God created you to do. I look forward to partnering with you as YOU find freedom through surrender. I hope the resources I will be offering will encourage you.

FREE resources available now:

Surrender Issues and Chocolate: This is my monthly newsletter filled with encouragement, writing updates, recipes, Reader of the Month profiles, contests and more.

Sunday’s Surrender and Chocolate: This is a brief, weekly email designed to give you encouragement as you start your week. Each issue also includes a chocolate mention.

Surrendered Scribe Media Promotions: When I have a new release, discounts, or any other promotions, I’ll send an alert. This will only be sent when there is a need for you to know.

Be Encouraged

Posted by Julie on March 31, 2016 in About Me, encouragement, God's Word, Julie Arduini, Life Lessons, Speaking, surrender, Writing |

Well, hello! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an update and I thought today I would do that.  I’ve been busy behind the scenes building my business as an indie author and speaker. It’s hard when God’s given a vision with an end result, but there are a million steps in between. I’m not sure what number step I’m on, but I’m trying to keep that end goal in sight.

To encourage audiences to find freedom through surrender in Christ.

The biggest project I have is re designing and re branding what was the Adirondack Romance Surrender Series that started with ENTRUSTED. Coming this spring is the re release of ENTRUSTED: Surrendering the Present, and the debut of book two, ENTANGLED: Surrendering the Past. The last release will be ENGAGED: Surrendering the Future. I’m nearly done with the covers and I’m excited. They capture the heart of the series. My desire is for readers to connect with flawed characters who ultimately surrender their fears to God through their relationship with Jesus. Hopefully they will want to do the same.

Friends have been sharing their surrender stories here, and if you’ve missed the series, I strongly recommend you take a look. I’ve loved putting these together and presenting them to you.

Take a look at the Surrender Stories here.

I’ve also wrote some posts for others. It’s a good marketing technique, but I love doing this in hopes of encouraging someone who might not be familiar with my writing.

Be encouraged with one of the resources I offer through guest posting.

Mama Monday: When the Parent is Tired

Jennifer Slattery Lives Out Loud: Your Spouse is not Your Enemy

Sarah Ruut: The Truth About Forgiveness

The Diamond Mine of Christian Fiction: Surrendering the good, the bad, and—maybe one day—the chocolate

Christians Read: The Information Dump

This year I also created a weekly encouragement via email called Sunday’s Surrender and Chocolate. It’s a brief message delivered to your inbox with a positive thought and a chocolate mention. A little something to start your week with a smile.  Subscription is free, and I’d love for you to join us.

Sunday’s Surrender and Chocolate

Finally, this year I’ve been intentional to give readers a monthly newsletter chocked full of resources to help them in their surrender journey. Beyond writing updates I share a devotional type message, introduce a Reader of the Month, a recipe, books I recommend, and more. This is also a free subscription and THE place to receive exclusive info on my writing and speaking.

Julie Arduini: Surrender Issues and Chocolate

Anything I do is with the prayer you finish feeling encouraged and hopeful. I pray you not only enjoy these resources, but you let others know about them. I can’t reach everyone, but together, we can. Can you imagine the world feeling free because they trusted God and let go of what was holding them back?

Surrendering Time

Posted by Julie on February 26, 2016 in About Me, encouragement, Julie Arduini, Life Lessons, Speaking, surrender, Writing |

If you’ve read this site or anything else from me, you know my focus is surrender and chocolate. What you might not know is that for the last few months, God has been behind the scenes whispering His plans for me to take that focus and go crazy. global with it.

I ignored the stirring at first, because I honestly felt what I was doing and how I was accomplishing it was just fine. At the end of the day argument with God that I had no chance of winning, a door opened and I knew I had to go through it.

So here we are. logo

I am now pursuing writing and speaking full time where I share my passion for audiences to surrender the good, the bad, and—maybe one day—the chocolate. I’ll keep writing fiction, I think it’s a key part of God’s plan. So many readers, women especially, are wounded. They are looking not just for escape through romance, but for encouragement. I want to be a vessel that gives them hope and the desire to find that freedom in Christ that comes from surrender.

My first project is taking my Adirondack series and re brand it as the Surrendering Time series. I’m re releasing ENTRUSTED: Surrendering the Present and making ENTANGLED: Surrendering the Past available this spring. ENGAGED: Surrendering the Future, will be available this fall.

I’ve sat down and mapped out a number of goals and projects and they take me into 2017. It’s part of the shift I keep talking about on Facebook as my husband is in a new position and often works from home, our son is transitioning to college, and our daughter, to middle school.

Surrendering Time isn’t just my contemporary romance series, it’s where my life is at right now.

Can you relate?

P.S.

I have a couple FREE surrender resources available. My monthly newsletter, Surrender Issues and Chocolate, gives surrender tips and encouragement, recipes, Reader-of-the-Month profiles, giveaways and more.

Sunday’s Surrender and Chocolate is a brief, weekly e mail with encouragement and a chocolate mention.

Both are available in the left sidebar of my website.
