Sabbath Sunday: Beyond the Branches
Each Sunday I take an amateur nature shot I took and pair it up with a thought or two about God’s love for you.
This just might be my favorite picture of all time. During a break from the relentless May rains I took a quick drive to Mill Creek Park in Youngstown. I don’t even think it’s a mile away and you can be on 680 amidst all the other traffic caught up in going into Youngstown or perhaps north to Cleveland or south to Pittsburgh. But in the middle of Mill Creek where I was…peace and quiet.
This picture looks like an invitation to me, that the branches are a frame of sorts teasing you to step out and enjoy what lies ahead.
I was sharing with friends that I do a lot of reading, not just in the Bible but about the Bible. There are people who study numbers and apparently the number 11 means transition.
I don’t know about you but this year just seems chocked full of transition whether we asked for it or not.
Change is scary. Sometimes change comes from loss, I’ve experienced that as well. Even in the hardest of times the transition had purpose. It’s a chance to step out and let God remove an old foundation and build a new one, one that for me is built on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. It doesn’t mean I won’t go through transition again, it just means when I feel it coming I have something strong to cling to.
Because beyond the branches the waters are deep, the skies can turn stormy and invisible pits lurk in wait.
But also beyond the branches are new landscapes, incredible opportunities and testimonies to share with others who might be approaching the branches of transition.
Will you take that step forward toward transition?
Julie, this is a wonderful post and just what I needed! Going through that time of transition in some areas of my life, and your reminder is so encouraging. I love your picture, and it does look like a frame to the beautiful landscape beyond. Thanks for sharing. Have a beautiful day!
I’m willing to take that step forward toward transition, very encouraging and inspiring article. The scariest things that happens in our life is that “changes” and I so much agree with that. I love the pictures above and it really looks true frame.
