Product Review: Amber Vale Holiday Sampler + #Giveaway
Amber Vale Home Holiday Sampler
Amber Vale Home is a brand new home decor company focusing on hand-crafted items. Their flagship product is soy-coconut blended, wooden wick candles with a variety of unique scents such as Porch Chat (whiskey + leather).
The Holiday Sampler combines three 4oz candles: Tennessee Christmas (evergreen + deciduous), Gathering (orange + clove) and With Extra Whip (peppermint + hot chocolate). With a focus on natural, wholesome products, these candles are made with phthalate-free fragrances blended meticulously to nail down the scents of the season: evergreen, clove, hot chocolate and peppermint.
Features include:
- Natural soy/coconut blend
- Wooden wick that “crackles” when burning
- Phthalate-free
- Realistic scents
The Amber Vale Home Holiday Sampler came beautifully packaged complete with instructions on how to light with a wooden wick. I’m glad for that, because that was a new experience for me. I couldn’t wait to open each jar and take a whiff.
As the instructions said, lighting the candles take practice and trial and error. Once I got it going, there was a crackle to it, and the scent was immediate. My favorite was Tennesee Christmas. It wasn’t overpowering, and changed the living room from a regular Saturday to it’s Christmas-time! The evergreen and deciduous was just the right combination to ring in the season.
The family agreed the second best scent was With Extra Whip. The sweet hot chocolate fragrance was the dominant scent, and again, it wasn’t overpowering. It was the perfect companion to Tenneesee Christmas. The other fragrance was peppermint, but we didn’t detect it. Honestly, I loved the hot chocolate aspect and too many candles out there use peppermint and too much. This was perfect as is.
The last candle was Gathering, a mixture of orange and clove. This was a miss for me. I’m not a big fan of clove, and this was the bigger scent. It gave me a headache. When one of the kids took a whiff, he felt it was like smelling a Pizza Hut mint. We’re not huge peppermint/cinnamon/clove fans, so I’m going to say this is on us.
Overall, I’m very impressed with the holiday sampler collection. It’s beautifully packaged, the candles look simple, yet elegant, and I think the wooden wick make this collection stand out. Although I didn’t love the Gathering scent, it’s still one I’d count as a holiday fragrance, so it goes well with the other two. Tenneesee Christmas was absolutely perfect, and we loved With Extra Whip.

Update: This contest closed November 22, and Amber Vale Home will be sending Kathy the Holiday Sampler!
My favorite scent (at Christmas or any other time!) is Adirondack pine. We don’t really have pine trees where I live, so anything pine brings back memories of “home.”
Kathy, there is no scent like Adirondack pine. I miss it so much. Tenneesee Christas is pretty darn close and I’ve been inhaling it all week. Thanks for leaving a comment. 🙂
I like pine tree scents pretty well because then I can pretend I have a real tree in the house instead of a fake one. I also like mulberry at Christmas….not really sure why. Some long ago childhood Christmas memory I guess.
Karin, those are great Christmas scents!
