Book Review and Free Book Opportunity: Guideposts Mornings with Jesus 2012
Are you getting used to 2012 yet? Writing the right year on your checks? Still working on those resolutions and goals?
I feel like 2012 is starting off with a bang. A break-neck speed of chaos where I’m on one of those conveyor belt sidewalks at the airport. I’m walking, but it’s fast. Things are happening without a lot of effort on my part, but I have to keep the pace or I trip.

And I need a railing to hold on to.
I’ve got that railing, and I want to share it with you.
Guideposts is one of those names that even if you’re not pursuing a personal relationship with Christ, you respect the Guideposts name. Their products are about encouraging, inspiring and empowering, and their latest offering is no different.
Mornings with Jesus 2012 is that railing I can grab first thing in the morning (or any time of day) to steady me before I get on that accelerated conveyor walkway called my life. There are 366 devotions by favorite authors such as Judy Baer, Gwen Ford Faulkenberry, Tricia Goyer, Sharon Hinck, Keri Wyatt Kent, Erin Keeley Marshall, and Camy Tang.
Each devotion starts with a comforting Bible verse, followed by a short but powerful devotion. The end of the brief reading has an action step, a sentence challenging you to make the devotional real for your life.
This is a perfect start to my day, or, if as it’s already under way, a great way to press pause, if only for a moment, and get things under a Biblical perspective in a way I can relate. The authors are women first—wives, moms, daughters, sisters, and as you read, you’ll discover they are friends. They want you to experience the presence of God and the peace He is so willing to give.
Guideposts believes so much in this book, and for good reason, they gave me an extra copy. I can’t wait to give Mornings with Jesus 2012 away. So, let’s work on giving a copy away.
I will give one copy of Mornings with Jesus 2012 away to one person in the world who reads English that can best explain in the comments why they need a copy of this book. Why you are desperate for something to enhance your personal time with the Lord. You know I’m all about surrender and transparency, so be honest. Maybe you’ve never had a quiet time and want to start. Perhaps your life is falling apart and you’ll devour anything Biblical you can get your hands on. Who knows? Maybe the ladies in this book are the small link to girlfriends you’ll have in the sea of diapers and spit up your day is about.
Whatever the case, you want to leave a comment on this post only and try to win this book. I will share the comments with my family and we will choose Saturday, January 28th, after 6pm EST what we believe is the best comment fitting. Our choice is not up for interpretation or debate, and like I said, I’ll send it anywhere, as long as the winner can read English. I know most contests are about North America, and I understand the cost. It’s a sacrifice.
So is giving up a few moments of your busy day to experience comfort and peace with the One who loves you most.
I can’t recommend Mornings with Jesus enough.
About the book:
“Be still and know that I am God.” is one of the most beautiful verses from the Bible, but it’s not easy to practice in this busy world. Mornings with Jesus will help you do just that—“be still” in Jesus’ beautiful and powerful presence. For those who are seeking a deeper experience in their relationship with Christ, Mornings with Jesus offers a fresh perspective of who Jesus is (the Healer, the Son of God, the Comforter, the Good Shepherd) and what that means for day-to-day life. With a warm and friendly voice, 365 short devotional writings on the character and teachings of Jesus encourage readers to greet each day by drawing near to Him and inviting His presence into their day. Spend time with Jesus at the beginning of each day and experience His nearness and peace in a new way throughout the year. Each day’s selection includes: • a Bible verse • an entry based on Jesus: His words, miracles, and parables; His wisdom, compassion, and comfort; His mystery, power, divinity, and humanity • a “faith step” that will inspire and challenge readers to apply the day’s message to their lives.

I received this book and the giveaway copy from Guideposts in exchange for an honest review.
I would really love to have this book. My personal one on one time with the Lord is precious to me. Starting off with Him in the morning is awesome, this book would enhance that time.
I have just received Tricia Goyer’s novel Along Wooded Paths. She is the only author I recognize. I would like to have this devotional to read during this leap year because it has 366 devotions and is for 2012. I like devotions because they begin a central theme and you can continue your Bible study further on the Scriptures that pertain to the subject on that day for in-depth study. It is a nice jump-start place to begin.
