A Real House that Inspired a Novella.

I am happy to report my 2nd collection for Barbour is now out! The Courageous Brides Collection contains nine novellas about courageous women and their heroines. Here’s what Amazon says about it: Ride into adventures alongside nine determined women of yesteryear whose acts of compassion and bravery attract male attention. Marcy helps displaced Indians. Emmy tends wounds at Fort Snelling. Ronnie stows away on a cattle drive. Daisy disguises herself as a Pony Express rider. Elinor becomes an abolitionist. Mae tames wild horses. Hannah gets help for accident victims. Lucy’s curiosity unnerves criminals. Kate nurses soldiers on the battlefield. Will real dangers douse the sparks of love?

My story is entitled “Hidden Dreams” and is about a young woman who becomes involved in the Abolitionist movement in Cynthiana, Kentucky. I named the heroine Elinor after my granddaughter who actually lives in the Pre-Civil War home the book is set in. When her grandparents remodeled the house, they discovered a hidden room in the cellar, so some have said it might have been part of the Underground Railroad. The house is real and still standing, but the rest of the story is fictional. Elinor had to surrender her safe lifestyle to join the Abolitionist Movement and the Underground Railroad. If you want to see pictures of the actual house, please check out my blog next Tuesday when I will be posting pictures I took there.

As you can tell from the blurb above about the collection, you should find several interesting stories to read—enough to read most of the month, so hope you will order a copy soon!

Surrender to Peace by Rose Allen McCauley

Surrender to Peace by Rose Allen McCauley

Surrender to Peace is the title of my latest contemporary romance set in lovely Puerto Rico, and it is also something I think Christ taught all Christians to do when he said to “take up your cross daily.” This quote is mentioned in three of the four gospels, so I think it is definitely something Christ wants us to emulate. Just as Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but Thine” in the Garden before he left to be tried and nailed to a cross, (Matt. 26:39) we all need to give up our own wills to the Father in all things.

At the beginning of the story, my character, Joy Worth, has just flown to Puerto Rico on her “un-honeymoon” after she was jilted a week before her wedding. As she has more time to think and pray in this tropical paradise, she comes to realize she stopped listening to God’s Spirit months before when she became engaged to a guy who wouldn’t even go to church with her. Was that the turning point in her relationship with God? She spends her time touring the lovely island and reading her Bible and praying to hear His Voice again.

I hope you will read the rest of the story to find out her journey to surrender. And to learn more about this beautiful island which is an American commonwealth. Some of the reviewers have said they felt like they were touring the island with Joy and Benigno, her Christian guide.

Happy reading, and happy surrender because that is the only way to be truly happy!

Surrender to Peace

About Surrender to Peace:

Joy Worth arrives in Puerto Rico on her honeymoon trip–without her ex-fiancé. On a tour, she meets Park Ranger Benigno Arroyo.
On several more outings, he shows her the joy of living through the beauty of his beloved island. She begins to hear God’s voice again.
Joy so loves the island she decides to stay. Benigno falls in love with Joy but realizes her pain is still fresh. Joy loves him but doubts her judgment.
Can Benigno Cook earn her trust and love while helping her learn to hear God’s still, quiet voice again?
