I didn’t mean to read this in one sitting, but I couldn’t help myself. Heidi crafted a realistic romance full of mystery and conflict.
Mark was Beth’s brother’s best friend. He was also the last to see her brother alive, and Mark was injured trying to save Chris. Beth also remembers Mark for all the wrong reasons, he unintentionally hurt her when he ignored her as a junior high schoolgirl with a crush on him he was unaware of.
The thought of a romance between them isn’t easy for either of them. Beth risks being hurt again, and Mark’s stayed away from Beth and her family for good reason. He has a secret and he’d like to keep it.
In the middle of it all is someone else keeping a secret, a man who calls himself The Knight. He feels it is his job to protect, and he’s got his eyes on Beth. He’s killed before, and if he has to, he’s ready to kill again.
I really enjoyed Dog Tags. I think any girl can relate to the high school crush that only one of them knows about. They are great characters to root for, but there is so much against them. The mystery/suspense angle was well done and reminded me of Brandilyn Collins. A great comparison, let me say.
