Thankful Series: Day Six (+#giveaway News)
All this month I will be watching on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and my new subscribers for my monthly-0r-so newsletter. If you tag me @JulieArduini and tell me you’re #thankful or #juliearduinithankful, I’ll enter your name to win a copy of my fiction books. This includes Entrusted, Entangled, Engaged, You’re Beautiful and the boxed set of A Christmas to Remember (only available as eBook.)
If you live in the United States, you have the choice, if you are the one winner randomly chosen, of print (except A Christmas to Remember,) or eBook. If you are outside of the US, it is automatically eBook.
I’ll add your name once a day for each shout out I receive (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, plus one total entry if you are a new subscriber to my newsletter.) You may or may not receive confirmation from me for those entries, and my random draw is final. If winner doesn’t respond after 30 days, I will choose another. I’m thankful for you.
I’m thankful for Facebook. I know there’s been privacy issues, hacking, conspiracies and a lot of division, but it’s true. I’m thankful for Facebook.
MY Facebook friends.
The last two years for social media has been brutal. That meme of Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow running for his life? That’s pretty accurate when it comes to sharing opinions on Facebook. I’m thankful because my friends have been wonderful on my page.
I’ve watched and even winced when I read good, Christian people and the responses they get on their page. Even worse, a lot of the hate comes from other Christians. I’ve made my foundation and thoughts on values and convictions fairly clear, but I appreciate that even those who disagree with me haven’t spewed on my page. Since 2016 I’ve been intentional not to initiate a conversation that will stir nothing but wrath, but if a mandate came down where I had to say exactly what I felt about a given subject, I’d say it. But for me, Facebook is a means to get my work out to readers. My work is about encouraging others, so I don’t think it’s right of me to start toxic conversations. Everyone has a page for a different reason, so someone else might be working hard to find a challenging conversation to stir things up. That’s their page.
My page remains positive and I’m super proud of that. It has nothing to do with me, but my Facebook friends. Some I may never meet this side of heaven.
So, I’m grateful!
If we aren’t Facebook friends and you’d like to be, please try. You can also find me on my author page, where I’d love to connect.
