Sabbath Sunday: Hope

marchbudohio

Each Sunday I share my own nature picture along with a couple words about God’s love for you.

It was a rough winter.

There was the snow.

And the ice.

Then the cold.

And more cold.

The endless, brutal, cold.

When the winds blew, the sleet pelting my cheek, I wondered if it would ever end.

This is too much.

Too hard.

I’m losing hope.

Like “Footprints in the Sand,” when the winter feels so relentless I can’t go on, that’s when the most amazing thing happens.

The snow starts to melt.

The temperatures climb.

The north winds shift to a southern breeze.

The buds appear.

And then, there it is.

Hope.

I can do this.

It’s not as bad as I thought.

I’m going to get through this.

The steps I felt too paralyzed to take become a slow crawl.

Then a tentative walk.

And when the spiritual summer approaches, it’s a full run.

Hope.

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord. (Psalm 31:23-24)
