A Facebook Secret
Facebook loves to change, and there have been many.
There was one, I don’t even know when it happened or if they promoted it, but unlike the rest of them, I never heard about it.
But what a find.
It’s the acquaintance feature.
It’s a list where you can make a FB friend an acquaintance. They can see all your posts, but you don’t see many of theirs.
For me, this is like milk chocolate. As a writer I have friends who come from different aspects of my life. I have an Ohio life. Upstate NY. Writing. Sometimes there are people who post a lot and it bogs my feed. Putting them as an acquaintance gives me the choice to read their updates on my terms.
Having acquaintances also helps my ministry heart. I don’t like to unfriend people because I know what it feels like to be unfriended. But sometimes there are people who don’t live like me and they are okay with profanity. There are some who toss f-bombs like I can toss back M&M’s. So, acquaintance works for me. Prayerfully I hope I have a post that might encourage them, yet I avoid the curses.
Sound good?
On your FB home page, left side, your cursor will allow you to edit when you hover on the actual word Friends. Acquaintances might be a category listed. Hit the pencil on the left of the category named Acquaintances, and add/delete as you wish. It’s pretty user friendly. If stuck, I often Google my question and can find an answer quickly.
Remember, we’re friends, right? Not acquaintances.
