Over the Edge by Michael Garrett
My recently released new Christian suspense novel, Over the Edge, came about as quite a surprise to me. Its precursor, Innocence Denied, received rave critical praise but never seemed to catch on in terms of sales. I had no intention to follow it up since it was such a dud, but fellow writers will agree that, if writing is in your blood, it’s there to stay.
When a sequel popped into my head three years later, I felt compelled to tell the continuing story of Larissa Baxter. Even though it’s a sequel to Innocence Denied, I wrote Over the Edge as a standalone novel that doesn’t require the first book to have been read to enjoy it.
I have since revised Innocence Denied to be republished soon as Nothing to Lose. I know this is confusing (I’m confused myself!) so I’ll move on to tell you about Over the Edge.
It’s a woman-in-jeopardy suspense story about a newbie Christian socialite, Larissa Baxter, who has been in hiding to avoid prosecution for a crime she didn’t commit. Although all charges have been dropped, she remains reluctant to resurface just yet. But just when she considers going public, a new threat catches her by surprise and she shifts into survival mode more so than ever.
When David faced Goliath, he at least had a rock. Larissa Baxter didn’t even have that.
As with the first book, Over the Edge has also received high critical acclaim, from “I couldn’t put it down” to “completely absorbing!” and “loved the twists.”
If you’re a fan of strong female lead characters and Christian suspense, I urge you to read the first few pages on Amazon’s “Look Inside” feature. Please give it a rating—you don’t have to write a review to do so.
And watch out for Nothing to Lose and find out how Larissa got into this mess in the first place.
